Edible Landscaping in the Suburbs (Anderson Township)
AFTER: This photo was taken in the edible landscape’s fifth season. It’s a prolific vegetable garden surrounded by native plants and the buzz of happy pollinators!
“John was very responsive to multiple design changes (thanks to an HOA) in the planning stage. The job was scheduled very soon after the plans were finalized. He and his crew showed up on time and worked harder than just about any contractor I have ever hired.”
The Challenge
This Anderson Township family wanted to utilize some of their unused lawn space to grow organic vegetables.
Because they live in the suburbs, they wanted to be mindful about ensuring that their gardening exploits look as good as they taste and serve as inspiration for curious neighbors.
IN PROGRESS: Converting turf into garden space and constructing cedar raised beds for organic vegetable gardening
The Transformation
We constructed a large set of cedar raised beds in a creative design that maximizes aesthetics and growing space.
Not only did the family gain 275 square feet of vegetable garden space, but they also chose to plant a perimeter of pollinator-attracting native plants around the periphery.
Beauty and productivity coexist nicely.
